We are two weeks from Election Day 2016! On November 8th, millions of Americans will head to the polls to cast their vote for who they believe should lead our country. Some will vote with specific candidates in mind, while others will focus on a particular political party. But if the thought of backing people or parties makes you want to scream this year, remember that our vote should represent our vision for this country.
For many of you, this is the first election you’ve really paid attention to, and I realize that you may be disillusioned after a very disappointing 2016 election season. I know I am. I have definitely been frustrated with the lack of substance in the last few debates. The candidates and the media simply aren’t talking enough about the issues that really matter in this country today. We hear constant name calling and personal attacks instead of practical solutions to deal with the very real problems that America faces.
Despite our frustration, fear and even disgust, this is not the time to go into your bubble and disengage! This is the time for young Americans like you and I to stand up for what is right. We clearly cannot depend on the media to remain unbiased, so we have to take a stake in this election. If America is going to remain the land of opportunity, then we have to keep it that way. It’s up to us. We cannot ignore the future of our country.

So we must not stay silent on these issues facing our country. This is such an important time for America, and you get to be a part of it! You get to have a say about which leaders should be making crucial decisions about the the next supreme court justice, taxes rates, school choice, national defense, and the value of life.
The way I see it, the only way to deal with these problems is to go back to the basics. We have to decide what the role of government is in the first place. How do we protect and preserve human freedom? How do we build a prosperous nation? These are the questions that we want to answer at The Windrose project.
Over the next 18 days, we will continue to highlight crucial election concerns that all Americans and especially voters must consider. There is a lot of talk about whether your vote matters or not, but in such a divided election, you need to know that your voice matters.
We must choose whether we want a bigger government run by bureaucrats or a more limited government that preserves your freedom. The future of our country is at stake, and we must decide. There will be small margins of victory, and you could be part of the vote to elect good leaders at all levels of government who want to 1) protect our freedom, 2) defend the Constitution, and 3) promote a prosperous future for this country.
The political process was never meant to be a spectator sport in this country. America is a country of “we the people” not “the government says…” As Americans, whether you are able to vote this year or not, we have a duty to be actively engaged in the political process. You need to know what you believe and why you believe it. Even if doing your part means informing others about the serious issues at stake in our country, that is a critical way to use your voice.
